Signs of worn garage door rollers and hinges

Rollers carry the door along its tracks while hinges let connected sections articulate through the curved portion. Worn bearings, cracked wheels, bent stems, loose fasteners, or damaged hinges can cause rattling, squealing, vibration, binding, and uneven movement. The track, panel attachment points, balance, and related hardware are checked before components are replaced.
Do not remove bottom fixtures or tensioned hardware
Some lower fixtures connect to lift cables that can remain under substantial tension. Avoid loosening bottom brackets, cables, springs, or unfamiliar fasteners. Stop operating a door when a roller has left the track, a hinge is tearing away from a section, or the door is hanging unevenly.
